Artist Nina Rizzo presented a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
workshop entitled Oil and Silver: Hand-tinting Black and White
Photographs on October 4, 2003 in Blacksburg.
Sponsored locally by the Blacksburg Regional Art Association, the workshop
was held at Glade Church Gallery.
Starting with black and
white images printed on semi-matte surface fiber base papers, students
will learn to use oil paints and Marshalls pencils to create both
realistic and imaginative photographs. Students need to provide 2-3 fiber
base matte surface prints of their own images that have been toned in
Kodak Sepia Toner.
Rizzo will give a slide presentation of hand-tinting techniques, including
slides of both her own works and other photographers working in this expressive
medium.
This
program has been organized and partially funded by the Office of Statewide
Partnerships of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.
